Michael Oh — Architect of Human-Centric AI
Michael (Mike) Oh is a Singapore-based technology strategist, enterprise systems architect, and licensed Private Investigator with over three decades of leadership across physical data capture, field inquiries, and industrial digital printing. AVAM is where that experience meets his commitment to technology that serves human dignity.
His career bridges field investigation, national technical standardisation, and patented hardware engineering. As founder and Managing Director of TCM RFID Pte Ltd, he led deployments of medication-verification and real-time tracking systems across Singapore's public healthcare clusters. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from La Trobe University.
Mike believes the most important AI systems are the ones we design with intentionality—where privacy, transparency, and human oversight are foundations, not afterthoughts. AVAM is his proof of concept: a working, private AI ecosystem that he uses every day.
Three Decades of Real-World Deployments
In 2002, tracking 4,000 leased PCs for an education provider, Mike used RFID to fix asset-assignment and technician-dispatch bottlenecks. He founded TCM RFID in 2004 and has built closed-loop, evidence-based systems ever since.
Healthcare — Medication Safety
Electronic Medication Administration System for the National Healthcare Group: 300 Motorola handhelds across TTSH, NUH and Alexandra Hospital, letting nurses verify the "5 Rights" at the bedside. Thin-client, encrypted, with no patient data stored on the device. Winner of APICTA as the first system of its kind in Asia; also deployed at the Institute of Mental Health.
Healthcare — Perioperative WMS
RFID Warehouse Management System automating stock counts from dock to theatre, with low-stock and expiry prompts (FEFO/FIFO) and predictive procurement. Launched at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, scaled across NUHS, and adopted at Woodlands Health Campus.
Industrial & Logistics
RFID Inventory Tracking System at Mitsubishi Electric Asia's regional hub: up to 25% productivity gain and 10% lower warehouse labour. First industrial smart-inventory system under the IDA Call-for-Collaboration at Intermech Machinery. Depot and spare-parts tracking for SMRT Corporation.
Lifestyle & Hospitality
An interactive RFID wine bar and cellar system for Absolute Wine, built with the National RFID Centre and showcased at RFIDasia 2009. Bottle selection surfaced tasting notes and pairings while updating inventory and authentication in real time.
Patented Hardware, National Standards
Intelli-Shelf
Multi-compartment smart shelf using shielded, multiplexed antenna arrays to create discrete read zones—solving RF absorption from metal frames and liquid products such as blood bags. Commercially launched at RFID World Singapore, April 2005.
Dynamic xy-RFID Scanning
Coordinate-based antenna scanning that locates an item's physical position on a plane, rather than just its zone.
Intelli-Trolley
A mobile smart-shelf cart that keeps shelf-level inventory current as it moves through hospital wards.
SS 543:2008 — QR Code
Core member of the Automatic Data Capture Technical Committee (ITSC), convened via GS1 Singapore and SMF. Contributed national annexes for printing high-density QR codes on patient wristbands and for point-of-care medication traceability data.
The patent work was supported by Singapore's Patent Application Fund (PAF PLUS) under EDB and SPRING Singapore. Patsnap Eureka's 2026 analysis, RFID Smart Shelf Patents: Leaders, Trends & White Space, ranks Mike #1 globally by published patent records in RFID-enabled smart-shelf inventory tracking, with 4 records.
